Annie Vu, owner of of Annie’s Petite Treats, grew up in a home where food cultivated love and brought the family together. Her first foray into baking began with an Easy Bake Oven, baking cookies with a lightbulb and inventing her own recipes with ingredients from the pantry. She carried that love to create and tinker as a hobby over the years through college and her career. In 2003, Annie moved from Houston to San Antonio to attend Trinity University. After graduating, she started her career at Rackspace, where she worked for nearly 7 years developing her strengths in marketing, events, and community outreach. Annie left Rackspace to lead education reform efforts in San Antonio, joining Choose to Succeed, a start-up organization working with top-performing charter schools in the city. It was during these later years that her hobby blossomed into an exciting career. What began as a way to unwind for the day – kneading the day’s stress into a beautiful confection that brought joy to others – turned into a full-time job. A couple orders on the side turned into all-night baking sessions in the kitchen before going to work every day. Sleep deprived and overwhelmed, Annie took a leap of faith and left her career behind to focus on her business. Annie’s Petite Treats specializes in cake balls, cake pops, and other bite-sized sweets, and serves the greater San Antonio area. She is grateful to be back in her roots – creating beautiful food that cultivates love and brings people together.
